Lions 2026 Training Camp Medical Preview: Wide Receivers

Talented, young, and healthy

The Lions WR room may be the most youthful and most talented group on the entire team. They are also the healthiest, as you can see by their medical concern levels below.

The starting trio is rock solid. The depth is less proven and is generally older than the starters. The Lions really need at least two of the three starters to be available throughout the season.

  • 🟢0-3 Low medical concern

  • 🟡4-6 Moderate medical concern

  • 🔴7-10 High medical concern

(Age at start of season in parentheses.) Click on player name for full medical report if available.

STARTERS

🟢Amon-Ra St. Brown (26)

Medical concern level: 2/10

Hand and/or wrist issues last season may have led to an uncharacteristic number of drops for this elite WR - an issue worth watching but not all that concerning going forward.

The bigger long-term concern may be his knee clean-up surgery from the 2025 offseason, which can be a signal for cartilage damage.

OUTLOOK: Fully healthy for 2026 and should continue his elite production.

🟢Jameson Williams (25)

Medical concern level: 0/10

Jamo is the human Gumby as his long lanky limbs never seem to get hurt despite often being contorted into awkward positions. He’s been incredibly reliable since his college ACL.

OUTLOOK: Healthy, young, super fast, and eats whatever he wants all the time. Yeah, I’m jealous.

🟢Isaac TeSlaa (24)

Medical concern level: 0/10

All he did as a rookie was show up in every game and make highlight-reel catches…

OUTLOOK: Healthy and ready to take a second-year bump in production.

BACKUPS

🟢Greg Dortch (28)

Medical concern level: 2/10

A chest injury ended last season, but he’s been healthy this offseason. Historically, Dortch has been very healthy throughout his NFL career. Most remarkably, he overcame a perforated intestine in college.

OUTLOOK: This veteran appears to have the inside track to making the roster. He’s by far the most proven of the backups with 145 receptions in his 6-year NFL career.

🟢Malik Cunningham (27)

Medical concern level: 2/10

Cunningham had a couple concussions in college, but is otherwise mostly clean. He was with the Lions last season on the practice squad and played in one game without a reception.

OUTLOOK: Cunningham was featured prominently in pictures throughout this offseason, and Jeff Risdon reports that he was repping high on the depth chart in minicamp. We’ll see if he can maintain his status once full-contact starts.

🟢Tom Kennedy (30)

Medical concern level: 1/10

While his age has hit 30, he’s got low mileage and no major injuries in his past.

OUTLOOK: The ultra-reliable Kennedy flashed on kickoff returns last season. While the Lions probably prefer to get younger, Kennedy is a guy you can count on.

🟢Dominic Lovett (23)

Medical concern level: 0/10

There were no health issues last season as a rookie. He appeared in 12 games - mostly on special teams - and did not log a reception.

OUTLOOK: This former 7th-rounder’s youth and cheap 4-year contract (currently on year two) gives him an advantage in making the roster.

🟢Jackson Meeks (23)

Medical concern level: 3/10

Meeks spent last season on the Lions’ practice squad and appeared in two games without a reception. In college, he had foot surgery to insert a screw for a fracture.

OUTLOOK: He probably won’t make the active roster, but his youth will help him stick on the practice squad.

🟡Cedrick Wilson (30)

Medical concern level: 6/10
