Lions Free Agency 2026: Troy Reeder LB Medical Report
Adding veteran special team's depth
The Detroit Lions added a linebacker in free agency right before training camp. Troy Reeder brings a lot of special teams experience which is very likely the planned role for him.
Sometimes however, these late additions are in response to a new injury issue to the existing group. There have been no reports of an injury to the LB unit and the pre-camp medical preview was mostly favorable and without active issues…
So let’s keep our fingers crossed for no bad news in the next couple days.

2025: 20/20 games played.
2024: 6 games played. Hamstring injury ended his season.
2023: 17 games
2022: 18 games
2021: 21 games
2020: 16 games
2019: 16 games
Advancing age is really the only concern here, as he turns 32 on the day of the season-opener vs the Saints in Week 1.
Reeder has shown excellent availability throughout his 7-year career, although a large percentage of that has been on special teams. Last year with the Rams, he had 328 special teams snaps and 81 defensive snaps.
A hamstring injury in 2024 isn’t much of a concern after a full season of proof of recovery. The actual severity of the hamstring is unknown, and I didn’t find any reports of a surgery for it. He missed the rest of the season after Game 6, but that could have been due to production (coach’s decision) reasons.
