Lions Sign Ben Stille: Medical Report & Mekhi Wingo Impact
Could this be bad news for Mekhi Wingo and his groin injury?
The Lions signing of Ben Stille today potentially could be a bad sign for Mekhi Wingo who suffered a groin injury yesterday. If so, the health concerns for Wingo are starting to stack up.
In 2024, Wingo had knee meniscus surgery, which had a delayed recovery due to a follow-up surgery.
In 2023, Wingo had groin surgery which could be a relevant factor in his current groin injury.
He only played in two games in 2025, but at least looked good in the season finale.
At just 23-years-old, Wingo still has a lot of potential, so hopefully this groin injury is mild, like the one that fellow lineman Derrick Moore suffered earlier. Moore’s groin strain occurred on August 2 and is expected to keep him out 7-10 days.
In a corresponding transaction, the Lions waived De’Shawn Rucker, who had a favorable medical report as a rookie UDFA. However, Rucker had an ankle injury yesterday of unknown severity.
