The Detroit Lions added EDGE rusher, Anthony Lucas, as an undrafted free agent (UDFA). Lucas brings youth to the room, but has a medical history of ankle surgery. At an imposing 6’ 5 1/2” and 256 lbs, he will attempt to fortify a position on the Lions that needs young depth.

Below is the medical report for Lucas. For a full health assessment of the 2026 rookie class, visit my Lions 2026 Rookies page.

Medical concern level ranges from 0 (no concern) to 10 (extreme).

(Ages in parentheses are at start of 2026 season and are factored into the concern level. Injury info and ages based on available public information and are unverified - subject to update. Games played data courtesy of sports-reference.com.)

Anthony Lucas, EDGE (21) - USC

Matt Miller’s #194 overall player.

Medical Concern Level: 3/10

2025: 12/13 games. Missed bowl game with unspecified injury.
2024: 7/13 games. Season-ending ankle injury with surgery.
2023: 13/13 games
2022: 7/12 games

An ankle surgery is worrisome for an EDGE rusher (see James Houston), but Lucas has a full year of proof of recovery afterwards. He may have had an injury at the end of his college career, but participated in the Shrine Bowl suggesting the injury was minor.

His young age of 21 is excellent and presents nice upside. Lucas finished college with 3 sacks and 8 TFL.
