NFL Draft 2026: RB medical report - Kaytron Allen, Roman Hemby, Jam Miller
Goodbye, David Montgomery. Hello, one of these guys?
With the trade of David Montgomery, the Lions are now in need of a quality RB to go with Jahmyr Gibbs. The Lions got a 4th-rounder in the DMo trade which could end up going towards his replacement. It would be great if former 4th-round pick, Sione Vaki, could become the new Knuckles, but he had trouble staying healthy last season.
The following are 3 RB’s with low concern levels who might be available in the 4th-round range.

Roman Hemby, RB (24): clean, age - 2/10
Jam Miller, RB (22): clavicle fracture, concussion, lower leg - 1/10
Kaytron Allen, RB (23) - Penn State
Projected round 3-5.
Concern level 1/10
2025: 12/13 games. Missed bowl game with unspecified injury.
2024: 16/16 games
2023: 13/13 games. Exited 1 game with injury.
2022: 13/13 games
Allen has been extremely reliable in his career, but did miss his final bowl game with an unspecified injury. He later participated in the Senior Bowl which is very reassuring. His age is a tick older than ideal, but is otherwise very clean.
His college production was excellent with 769 rushes for 4180 yards (5.4 Y/A). Click here for his highlights.
Roman Hemby, RB (24) - Indiana
Projected round 3-5.
Concern level 2/10
2025: 16/16 games
2024: 12/12 games
2023: 13/13 games
2022: 13/13 games
2021: 4 games
Hemby has shown fantastic reliability in college with no reports of injury. The main concern is an older age which is more of an issue at the RB position.
He was productive in college with 711 rushes for 3467 yards (4.9 Y/A). Click here for his highlights.
Jam Miller, RB (22) - Alabama
Projected round 4-7. Ran 4.42 40-yard dash at combine.
Concern level 1/10
2025: 11/15 games. Fractured collarbone prior to season, missed first 3 games. Concussion, missed no games. Lower leg injury, missed 1 game.
2024: 13/13 games
2023: 14/14 games
2022: 13/13 games
Miller got hit with multiple injuries in his final season. The collarbone is of minimal concern going forward. The minor leg injury will need the specifics investigated, but shouldn’t be too concerning. The concussion isn’t a major issue as long he doesn’t have a history of more in his past.
Miller’s young age is a nice positive, along with his very fast 40 time at the combine. He finished college with 349 rushes for 1596 yards (4.6 Y/A). Click here for his highlights.
