NFL Draft 2026: CB Medical Report - Avieon Terrell, Colton Hood, Chris Johnson
The Lions might look to add a high-end CB in 2026
For the Lions, the CB position might be a sneaky need. Terrion Arnold and Ennis Rakestraw are coming off shoulder surgeries. DJ Reed should be solid but had a significant hamstring last year, and turns 30-years-old midway through the 2026 season. Rock Ya-Sin was excellent last year, but enters the season at 30-years-old and on a 1-year deal.
All this added together means an early round CB selection would not be a big surprise in the 2026 NFL draft. The following are three CB’s expected to go in Round 1 or 2.

Quick summary of medical concern levels
Avieon Terrell, CB (21): pre-draft hamstring, concussion - 1/10
Colton Hood, CB (21): clean - 0/10
Chris Johnson, CB (21): late foot injury - 1/10
Avieon Terrell, CB (21) - Clemson
Projected round 1-2. #30 on Daniel Jeremiah big board March 5.
Concern level 1/10
Combine & pro day: Did vertical & broad at combine, but not the 40. Recurrent hamstring strains limited testing, including aggravation at pro day.
2025: 12/13 games. Opted out of bowl.
2024: 14/14 games. In spring, had ankle injury and concussion.
2023: 13/13 games
Sometimes, hamstrings can be used to hide other maladies. But Terrell’s case seems likely straightforward, since he did drills and some testing at the NFL combine, and was running the 40 at his pro day when aggravation occurred.
Unless the hamstring is severe, it should not impact his rookie season at all. Recall last season, when Tyleik Williams strained his hamstring during his pro day, was drafted at #28 by the Lions, and went on to have a reliable, healthy rookie year.
Terrell’s track record of perfect reliability in three years of college is very reassuring. His young age is excellent. He finished college with 3 INT and a 25 PBU.
Colton Hood, CB (21) - Tennessee
Projected round 1-2. #29 on Daniel Jeremiah big board March 5. Ran 4.44 40 at the combine.
Concern level 0/10
2025: 12/13 games. Minor calf issue, did not miss a game. Opted out of bowl.
2024: 13/13 games
2023: 4 games then redshirted.
Hood played for three college teams in his three years which is pretty normal these days. There are no reports from any of those three teams of any significant injuries. With a clean history, young age, and good combine testing, he presents as a very low-risk player going into 2026.
Hood finished college with 3 INT and 14 PBU.
Chris Johnson, CB (21) - San Diego State
Projected round 2. #42 on Daniel Jeremiah big board March 5. Ran 4.40 at combine.
Concern level 1/10
2025: 11/13 games. Missed 1 game with unspecified injury. Lingering foot injury, missed bowl.
2024: 12/12 games
2023: 12/12 games
2022: 12/13 games
Johnson’s end-of-season foot issue was a concern, but he showed up at the Senior Bowl and ran fast at the combine. Since he was allowed to work out at the combine, that implies he passed all the medical exam and imaging tests, which is very reassuring.
Johnson finished with 6 INT and 14 PBU in college.
