NFL Draft 2026: EDGE Medical Report - Max Llewellyn, Mason Reiger, Mikail Kamara
Llewellyn is pretty clean, but the Reiger & Kamara have significant concerns
The Lions picked up a 6th round EDGE last year in Ahmed Hassanein whose rookie year was mostly lost due to a pec injury. They might take another swing at a late-round EDGE again this draft.
Here are three prospects projected to go in the later rounds that might interest the Lions. One is low risk while the other two carry significant concerns.

Medical concern level ranges from 0 (no concern) to 5 (might be worth the risk if the reward is high) to 10 (take him off your board, Brad).

Quick summary of medical concern levels
Max Llewellyn, EDGE (24): remote foot fracture - 2/10
Mason Reiger, EDGE (24): leg surgery, knee surgery - 7/10
Mikail Kamara, EDGE (24): stinger, knee, bilateral multiple shoulder surgeries, multiple high ankle sprains - 8/10
Max Llewellyn, EDGE (24) - Iowa
Projected round 5-6. Ran 4.81 40 at NFL combine. Jeff Risdon mocks him to Lions in 5th round.
Concern level 2/10
2025: 13/13 games
2024: 13/13 games
2023: 14/14 games
2022: 3 games
HS: Foot fracture as sophomore.
Llewellyn appears to be clean except for a remote foot fracture. His reliability has been perfect in the past three years of college. His age is older than you’d like, but isn’t a major issue for a late-round pick.
He finished with 20.5 TFL and 14.5 sacks in college.
Mason Reiger, EDGE (24) - Wisconsin
Projected round 5-7.
Concern level 7/10
2025: 12/12 games. Right leg surgery in the spring.
2023: 10/14 games.
2022: 13/12 games
2021: 9/13 games
At least two unspecified knee/leg surgeries in the past two seasons is of significant concern. The exact details of those surgeries will need to be worked out by medical. It is reassuring that he had a full final season in college though.
He finished his career with 22.5 TFL and 13 sacks.
Mikail Kamara, EDGE (24) - Indiana
Projected round 4-6.
Concern level 8/10
2025: 16/16 games. Shoulder nerve stinger. Possible knee injury in playoffs.
2024: 13/13 games
2023: 12/13 games. Unspecified knee injury.
2022: 5 games. Multiple high ankle sprains.
2021: Missed season with injury. Bilateral shoulder surgeries for bilateral labrum tears.
2020: 6/6 games. Partially torn shoulder labrum with surgery. Multiple shoulder dislocations.
Kamara has a lengthy injury list over his lengthy college career. Multiple shoulder surgeries to both shoulders is a concern. A recent nerve stinger needs evaluation to rule out a spinal cause. Ankle and knee injuries round it out. His older age along with potentially many injury residuals add up to a high concern level.
On the positive side, he battled through to play every game in his final two seasons, finishing with 45 TFL and 23.5 sacks.
